Brick

You know, Indie films are a toss-up. Sometimes they're amazing, and sometimes they're terrible. I've seen greatness from the likes of Junebug and embarassing-ness from movies like Wong Kar Wai's 2046.

So when I went to see Brick at the Kendall Cinema, our local Indie theater, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had read Ebert's review of Brick that day, and was hopeful. But Ebert had liked "2046," which I found to be entirely inane and bleak.

I was not prepared for just how amazing "Brick" would turn out to be.

The film is set in a modern day high school, yet is in the style of a 1930's crime drama. The lead is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, most famous for his role as the youngest in Third Rock from the Sun. I always liked this kid. I just didn't know he could act this well.

"Brick" gets us right off the bat. But there's a while where I was teetering on the edge, not sure what I thought. You know, when you meet a girl and you're not yet sure if you like her or not. Then when you decide you do, you stop evaluating so much and just enjoy things. The film has its own lingo. Its own rhythm. And some people might not make that leap and just enjoy.

And I don't want to say much more. I'm hoping to go see it again. Tonight.

Slower postings

Well, if you check this blog with any frequency whatsoever, you've recently noticed a drop in how often I'm posting. And that's likely not going to change. I expect that over the next 6 months, I just might stop posting altogether.

However, the photos will continue to flow and get updated. Those will never stop, God willing.

Oh yeah, I'm going to Philadelphia for the weekend. Leave tonight. I expect to have a few new photos.
