Light on Updates

Hey everyone. It's been a little light on updates around here lately, mostly because I've been so busy with classes. I won't have much time to update the blog, but the photo albums will continue to be updated nearly every day. So check back there often and let me know what you all think.

Today I shot some friends from church for their wedding invitations. They'll pick one of these along with a color tinting to send out in the invites.

Published

It's not much, but I had my first photo published today in the MIT newspaper, The Tech.

It was taken last Saturday at the MIT Invitational Volleyball tournament. If you're around MIT, you can find it in today's paper, Volume 125, Number 3, on page 16.

I shot another men's volleybal match tonight. Someone ganked my jacket, which wouldn't be so bad if my iPod wasn't in the pocket. Aah, well.

Class details

At the request of Mr. Ryan K. Price (name obscured for anonymity), here are the details of my thesis advisor and research.

I was referred to David Trumper by my academic advisor, Ernest Cravalho. I spoke with him on Monday, and it looks like if my proposal is acceptable, he will take me on. Because my research could be patentable, I won't go into too much detail (if you want more, just give me a call). It is primarily Electrical Engineering stuff, so Trumper seems to be a great fit.

My Product Design and Development class ROCKS, It's a grad class that counts as one of my major requirements, and it looks to be the only decent elective I can take this semester. The class is actually at the Sloan School of Management, so it has a very different feel. There are management students, mechanical engineering grad students, and even students from the Rhode Island School of Design. It's exactly the kind of class I'm looking for. I'm stoked.

After looking over my schedule last night, I discovered that I don't have classes on Monday. Or Wednesday. Or Friday. And I only have one on Tuesday. You know what that means? Class on Thursday starts at 9am and ends at 10pm. No joke. I have a 30 minute break from 2:30-3pm, and then a break from 5-7pm. How's that for an insane day? :) Luckily, I have no scheduling conflicts.

I had a meeting with the Financial Aid department which ended up being such a blessing. As I was looking around the woman's office, I saw several Bible verses, and she was very kind to me. I found out towards the end that she isn't normally the person I'd be meeting with, either. She was just covering for the day. It reminded me that God has my life in His hands. Such a blessing.

First day of classes

Today was my first day of classes of my final semester of college. I am really excited about my Product Design and Development class, as it is a joint grad class with the Sloan school. And there are students from the Rhode Island School of Deisgn (unbelievable art school) and some other places. It's a total random assortment of some very interesting people. It looks to be a crazy amount of work, though.

I might have a thesis advisor, too. After talking with him, I've decided to double the number of units I'll be spending on my thesis. At first when we were talking, he was very reluctant to take on any new students, but after refining my process a bit, he seemed much more eager.

This semester is going to be crazy. I have plans to be out the door each morning by 9 am, returning by 11pm. After looking at the time classes are going to take, I think I'm going to he holding off a bit on photography (though I am taking a photojournalism class). It should be a lot of fun to completely throw myself into MIT for the first time, but it's going to be crazy rough. I would really appreciate your prayers throughout the term. The blog entries will likely back off quite a bit, and become more of a place to share prayer requests.

I feel the start of something big.
